‘Prolific Offender’ Sentenced For Rochester Drug Bust

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man with a long criminal history now serving time in a Minnesota prison has had some more time added to his sentence for a conviction stemming from an incident in Rochester three years ago.

At the time of his arrest, Rochester Police described 27-year-old Andre Dee as a “prolific offender.” He was taken into custody after a police officer, who Dee did not have a valid driver’s license, behind the wheel of a car. After Dee parked the vehicle, he spotted the officer and took off running. While fleeing, Dee dropped a backpack containing nearly 2 pounds of marijuana before he ran into a residence, which resulted in a brief standoff with police.

He ended up pleading guilty to a couple of 3rd-degree drug charges last October and has now been sentenced to 6-years in prison. The sentencing order states Dee will be allowed to serve the time concurrently with a 3-year prison term he was given in December of 2017 for failing to register as a predatory offender, which means he’ll have to serve an additional 3 years behind bars.
