St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Members of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office are mourning the loss of Sheriff's Deputy Dallas Edebrun.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a search was launched on Monday after it was learned that Deputy Edebrun did not return to his home after he left his patrol station in Arden Hills after working a shift on Sunday. He was eventually found deceased in his vehicle.

“Our hearts go out to Dallas’ wife, family, and friends. He was larger than life, both in his physical presence and his service to Ramsey County.” – Sheriff Bob Fletcher

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of his death. The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office noted there were no signs of injury or trauma on his body.

Deputy Edebrun joined the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office in 2017 after working for two years as a correctional officer. He was a member of the Ramsey County SWAT team and received a number of commendations in his short career.

Edebrun made the news last year after he was seriously injured in an on-duty crash. The Sheriff's office says a motorist fleeing from police in Mounds View in a stolen vehicle crashed into the deputy’s squad car, which burst into flames.
