Nationally Ranked Rochester Student Athlete Has Big Decision Looming
The John Marshall student athlete has wowed scouts on the hardwood for several years now, but soon he'll be deciding where to continue his playing days later this summer.
Matthew Hurt, the 6'9 power forward is nearing the end of his high school career and it's no secret how good he's been. In fact, the John Marshall Rocket is so good he's ranked among the top 5 in recruits in the entire nation! National recognition brings in big time attention as some of the best schools are vying for her services come 2019.
Highly touted programs like Arizona, North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA, Duke and even in-state University of Minnesota have all come calling to recruit Matthew's skills for their rosters next fall. As a die-hard Gopher fan myself, I would love it if he joined Richard Pitino's squad and help us bring a Big 10 Championship to the Land of 10,000 Lakes... so if his older brother Michael (who's already enrolled and plays for Coach Pitino) is reading this, you need to help me and other fans by harping on him daily to stay 'home'! Please, and thank you.
In fact it sounds like we won't have to wait long for an answer, because according to a story recently done by KARE 11, Hurt says he plans on cutting down his list of schools in August and should have a decision made prior to his senior season.
In the meantime, he'll be busy playing ball this summer with his AAU team D1 Minnesota to work on his craft, while also getting stronger physically to prepare himself for life after Rochester.
Have fun and stay healthy, Matthew! We're all excited to see where your talents will take you.
