Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The National Weather Service is advising residents and motorists in southeast Minnesota to start thinking about a possible snow event.

The weather outlook as of Wednesday morning calls for “Accumulating snow looks to overspread part of the area on Friday, particularly near and west of the Mississippi River.”

The Weather Service says the snow may arrive in the morning and then intensify during the afternoon and evening hours.

The Weather Service says the exact track of the approaching storm “could still shift, so potential snowfall amounts are not yet certain, but latest trends favor the heaviest swath of snow falling from southwest Minnesota into western Iowa. "
