A recreational fire that got out of control caused about $20,000 in damage at a northeast Rochester apartment building Saturday morning.
The Rochester Fire Department today reported that fire crews responded around 6:30 a.m. to a call concerning a recreational fire at 315 27th Street Northeast. A news release says the call was soon upgraded to a structure fire because the flames were spreading to a detached garage behind the apartment building.
While firefighters were putting out the flames, the nearby apartment building was evacuated until the fire was completely extinguished. No injuries were reported.
