Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A report dealing with DMC-related projects in Rochester shows the average salary paid to construction workers has been nearly $40 an hour, or $80,000 per year - plus benefits.

The report was presented Tuesday to the Destination Medical Center Corporation Board as it held its final meeting of 2019 in Rochester.

The report shows construction workers residing around Rochester have earned more than $13 million of wages paid on DMC projects. The board was told DMC projects include a prevailing wage requirement.

The board was also provided other highlights of workforce participation among targeted businesses between April 2017 and June 2019. Construction work performed by minorities totaled 12.7% and professional services and construction work performed by women totaled 32.8%.

It was a busy year for DMC-related projects. The board was briefed on several major projects that were completed earlier this year or nearing completion.

One project that was in the news during the year was the renovation of the historic Chateau Theatre. The theater is now being operated by Exhibits Development Group and it has announced its first public event. It will be the Minnesota premiere of The Magical History Tour – A Beatles Memorabilia Exhibition. It is scheduled to open Nov. 23rd.
