Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who was assaulted while holding a child suffered a broken jaw and nose and other injuries.

The incident happened Sept. 26th and a warrant has been issued for the arrest of the man suspected of attacking the victim.

Police who were called to a woman’s residence were told her ex-boyfriend forced his way inside. He was identified as 29-year-old Clarence Bibbs. The woman told police Bibbs became upset when he saw the other man sleeping in the apartment and threatened to assault him.

The woman handed a child to the other man “as she believed that the Defendant would not assault the Victim while the Victim was holding the child.” According to the criminal complaint, the woman told police Bibbs “began hitting the victim in the face, knocking him to the floor. The Defendant continued to strike the victim by hitting him in the face and body.”

When Bibbs left, the woman called 911.

The victim told police Bibbs " hit him while he was holding the minor child, he could not fight back, and that he was dazed when he was knocked to the floor."

The victim complained of pain in his face, jaw, and rib area. It was later determined the man sustained a broken nose, broken jaw, bruised ribs, and a bruised kidney.

The complaint doesn't indicate the child was hurt.

Bibbs is facing felony burglary and assault charges.
