The victim was 55-year-old Charles Sklavos. Sheriff’s Office Capt. Scott Behrns says Sklavos had stopped behind a car on County Rd 1 at the intersection with County Road 16 near Simpson.

Another vehicle approaching from behind failed to stop and hit the rear of the motorcycle. Behrns says Sklavos was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

Investigators are checking to see if the vehicle that hit the motorcycle had a mechanical problem.

It was driven by 31-year-old Brenna Amos of rural Stewartville.
