‘Name a Street Sweeper’ Contest Kicks off in Rochester

You've heard of the annual 'Name a Snowplow' contest that happens in Minnesota, but now we have the 'Name a Street Sweeper' contest that just kicked off in Rochester!

You've probably seen them (and maybe shaken your fist because they have to drive REAL slow), there are street sweepers all over Rochester. The reason is twofold: To improve water quality in town by getting the junk off the streets and to keep our neighborhoods clean.

So even though I get annoyed when I get stuck behind a street sweeper, they're doing good things for our neighborhoods and city.

The City of Rochester wants to get the word out about the street sweepers and why they exist, PLUS, it's the 20th anniversary of Litter Bit Better. So the city kicked off the 'Name a Street Sweeper' contest.

Litter Bit Better in Rochester, MN

If you aren't familiar with Litter Bit Better, it happens every spring, where groups of people sign up to clean up trash along one road, block, or parking lot. You could get friends to do it, or a lot of the time, businesses do it.

You'll get the supplies you need to pick up the trash, too. They make it really easy to participate and make our city a little cleaner.

So, in celebration of it being 20 years of Litter Bit Better, it's time to submit our best funny (or punny) names for our city's street sweepers.

You have from now until March 25th, 2026 to submit your best name ideas. The winning names will be announced on April 22nd, 2026. How about something like The Grime Reaper or Sir Sweeps-a-Lot?
