Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  A shooting-related case against a Rochester man has been delayed after he was found incompetent to face trial.

The case against 41-year-old Abdusalam Omar Hussein began in November 2019 when he was arrested after shooting a man several times.

He was accused of breaking into a Rochester apartment and shooting the 25-year-old man multiple times in the legs. The victim told investigators he was sleeping when he was confronted by the intoxicated man.

Hussein was later arrested after he crashed his vehicle while being chased near Lake Zumbro. The criminal complaint says he admitted shooting the man and told investigators the victim had disrespected him at a party.

Hussien was charged last October with making threats against the victim about a week before he was scheduled for trial.

The shooting case was initially delayed after the judge ordered a psychological evaluation. He was found competent. It was delayed again due to the pandemic. Another evaluation was ordered after his October arrest. During a court hearing Monday, the judge found Hussein is incompetent and the two cases have been put on hold while he receives treatment.
