Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - There is still a chance Rochester could establish a new all-time snowfall record by Thursday morning.

As of this morning, the snowfall total at the Rochester Airport since July 1st of last year was at 79.6 inches. The current seasonal record, which is measured by the National Weather Service from July through June, was set in 1996 and 1997 at 85.1 inches. The most recent snowfall report from the Rochester Airport today was at 2.9 inches, which brought the current seasonal total to within 2.6 inches of tying the all-time high mark. It also set a new snowfall record for April 10th.

At this point, it is uncertain if the winter storm hitting Minnesota this week will produce enough snow to break the record, but the National Weather Service is saying another inch or two of accumulation is possible in the Rochester area overnight.
