Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police say two young women lost $400 in cash in a drug deal that turned an assault and robbery.

Police learned of the situation shortly after midnight when officers responded to a call from a resident at the Meadow Park apartment complex about people banging on the door to their apartment. Lieutenant Mike Sadauskis says the 19 and 20-year-old women pounding on the door explained they had just been beaten and robbed, and a witness falsely told them the people responsible lived in the apartment.

The 2 women indicated they had arranged to purchase a couple ounces of marijuana through a person they did not know via conversations online through the Snapchat app. They were directed to the apartment complex in southeast Rochester and soon after they parked their vehicle they were approached by 3 females who assaulted them and took off with the $400 they had brought with them to buy the drugs.

Sadauskis says officers, using some online tracking tools, identified a woman living nearby as a possible suspect but she was able to provide an alibi. As of this afternoon, there had been no arrests in the case.
