The search and selection process could last a few months. Interim superintendent Kent Pekel is not commenting at this time on whether he will apply for the job on a permanent basis.

"I am going to refrain from commenting on the search process at this time. I don’t want my personal professional plans to become a distraction while we are making difficult decisions to keep schools safe and open during the current COVID surge and as we begin taking steps at the school board meeting on Tuesday to close the major budget deficit that the school district faces in 2022-2023."
