If you want to see one of nature's brightest light shows this weekend should be your best opportunity.

The Lyrid meteor shower is expected to be most active over Minnesota and Iowa on Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22.

The Lyrid is the oldest recorded meteor shower.

The Lyrid was written about in Chinese records over 2,500 years old.

And while it's not necessarily one of the most active meteor showers it does produce some of the brightest shows.

According to Time And Date here are some good tips to help you see and enjoy the Lyrid meteor shower.

• You don't need any special equipment or a lot of skills to view a meteor shower.
• Find a viewing spot away from the city lights.
• Dress for the weather, and make sure you are comfortable, especially if you plan to stay out long. Bring a blanket or a comfortable chair with you because meteor watching can be a waiting game.
• Once you have found your viewing spot, lie down on the ground and look at the sky.
