Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - At last report, Rochester police were trying to locate a suspected truck thief who later fled while being treated at St. Marys Hospital.

The man is suspected of stealing the pickup truck from a Rochester business last Friday afternoon.

The owner was able to use the truck’s OnStar service to trace the vehicle to the south Menard’s store. Officers found the truck and two people inside. The man suspected of stealing the truck was spotted in a nearby vehicle and he was arrested.

As he was being processed at the Olmsted County jail, the 20-year-old man said he had swallowed some methamphetamine. As a precaution, he was taken to St Marys for treatment. While there, he was able to escape.

It’s believed the man is from Riceville, Iowa.
