Kids Count is a project that is designed to monitor the the well-being of children in the United States.

Each year they conduct a study of all 50 states to determine which states are the best for kids. State are ranked in categories like economic well being, health, education, and family life.

Minnesota has always ranked high on the list and this year actually took the top spot.

Does this surprise you?  It shouldn't. Our economy is strong, our schools are great and we have the top medical facilities in the country. Plus, there are always events and activities going on for young families - many of them free.

As for the weather... Our summers are beautiful and it snows a lot during the winter. Kids love both. You really don't starting hating winter until you're old enough to have to drive in it - or maybe it's once you're old enough to start shoveling.
