The First Seed Library is Opening Soon in Rochester
While we are anticipating even more snow over the weekend, it's hard to imagine the birds chirping, the sun shining and gorgeous flowers growing in your yard. BUT, spring is coming. The Rochester Library has the coolest way to prepare you for it with their first ever Seed Library.
The Seed Library will allow you to "borrow" seeds to start or expand your garden of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. They have 44 varieties, including watermelon, carrots, greens, beans and more! RPL cardholders will be able to check out 10 packets of seeds each year, with no expiration date. You grow your produce and at the end of the season, collect the seeds to return. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
We want to promote sustainability, and a good place to start that is by providing seeds and information about gardening and growing seeds. - Keri Ostby (Head of Technical Services)
The Grand Opening is Saturday, March 2nd, from 1:30-4:00 pm. At the event, you'll be able to learn about the seed library, make seed bombs, plant microgreens, and get your seed packets. Click here to learn more.
