The Guthrie Releasing Their Virtual ‘A Christmas Carol’ Performance Next Week
The Guthrie Theater announced in September that they will share a virtual performance of 'A Christmas Carol' this holiday season. Starting next week we will be able to watch this virtual performance!
This performance of 'A Christmas Carol' will be the 46th consecutive year The Guthrie has done the performance, so they had to figure out a way for the show to go on despite COVID. The Guthrie's Artistic Director, Joseph Haj, said in a press release that they're using Dickens' own adapted version for this performance:
"[Dickens] adapted his novella into four staves, or chapters, which he performed in wildly popular public readings for more than 20 years. It gives me great joy to bring this timeless classic to life, using Dickens’ own performance script, with four incredible actors in an intimate, virtual medium."
'A Christmas Carol' will be available on-demand next Saturday, December 19th through Thursday, December 31st. Tickets to watch this virtual performance are $10 per household. You can get your ticket on their website (HERE).
Bring Me the News mentions that typically for The Guthrie's annual performance of 'A Christmas Carol' K-12 groups that come to see the show get discounted tickets. Since there's no show to physically go see with a class, The Guthrie is offering free access to the virtual performance to educators. If you're an educator who wants to get free access to the performance you can register and get more details HERE.
