I call this a step in the right direction.

In a race to see which stores can open the earliest over Thanksgiving Day weekend in order to give their customers the best deal possible, one Bloomington, Minnesota mall is putting their giant foot down and saying "not us".

The largest shopping mall in the nation said in a news release Wednesday it will keep its doors shut on Thanksgiving as a way to “give the holiday back” to its 15,000 employees.

The mall will then open bright and early at 5 a.m. Friday for Black Friday.

However, the mall notes that individual stores or restaurants can choose to be open for any would-be shoppers, and there will also be key personnel in place to make sure things run smoothly.

Any stores that do decide to open will be listed on the mall’s website

I happen to love this because it's a step in the right direction to keep a healthy work/life/family balance that retail workers don't always get.  I always feel bad for those workers who have to miss out on family time over the holidays because of the greed of the company to make more money... the MOA is making the right call here, in my opinion.
