The Oldest Bar In Minnesota
Thrillist.com has a really cool list on their site. "The Oldest Bar In Each State." The oldest in Minnesota is a place called Neumann's in North St. Paul. It opened in 1887. (There are a couple of bars in the state that opened prior to that but have had to shut down one time or another) According to their website, Neumann's has never shut down - not for The Great Depression - Not during prohibition.
I love seeking out places like this. Places with character. Places where you get a good story just looking around at the building. Check out the "history" section of their website. They've got a great back story and most importantly it looks like the establishment is run by really cool people. I'll definitely stop the next time I'm in that neighborhood.
