There’s a Strong Iowa Presence in This Year’s Puppy Bowl
While more than 100 million people will tune in to watch the 49ers and Chiefs battle in Super Bowl LVIII, there are still plenty of folks that would much rather spend their time tuning in to anything else on TV that day.
One of the most popular choices over the past several years has been the Discovery Channel's Puppy Bowl, which is now in its 20 year.
And while it's against a football backdrop, the whole thing is really just a great excuse to watch a bunch of puppies having a ball and living their best lives.
This year in the record setting field of 131 participants, you can include five Iowa dogs in the startling lineup for Puppy Bowl XX.
On Team Fluff is Patrick Mabones, a hound mix.
He's joined by Vega, a German Shorthaired Pointer/Boxer mix.
Also on Team Fluff is Jambu the beagle.
Two dogs from the Hawkeye State are on the Team Ruff roster, including Angus, and Australian Shepherd/Akita mix.
Also on Team Ruff is June, an Australian Shepherd/Akita mix.
All five dogs are from AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport in De Soto. This is the second time in the last four years the shelter has had puppies in the event. Seven AHeinz57 dogs were included in Puppy Bowl XVI in 2020.
You can catch Puppy Bowl XX, Sunday (February 11) at 1:00 PM Central on Discovery, Animal Planet, TBS, and TruTV.
