There's a new line of slippers with extra-thick soles, specifically designed to protect your foot when you step on a Lego.

So let me get this straight: First you buy the Lego, then when your kid's don't want to clean them up, we as parents have to buy the slippers to keep us from killing them when we step on the Lego...?  Now THAT'S the way to make money in America!

Here's what they look like up close:

Think you deserve a pair after stepping on one of those sharp brick-shaped corners time and time again?  I've got some sad news: Only 1,500 pairs of slippers were produced, according to French blog Piwee, and they'll be given away at random to people who fill out a Christmas wish list on the Lego France website.  That means the world at large doesn't have much chance of actually owning these slippers, but they might inspire some makers to create their own Lego-defense footwear.

You can read more on these slippers from an article on Cnet.com.

Having played with Lego as a kid, I'm sure my parents regretted buying me multiple Lego sets on more than one occasion by finding the one piece I'd missed to put away buried in the carpet, awaiting them to step on in the wee hours of the morning... but I think the one thing people who want to buy these slippers are forgetting: You still have to remember to put them on!

A stupid pair of Lego brand slippers isn't going to protect your feet anymore than any other pair of footwear if you forget to put them on your feet to begin with!  So save your money, and just accept the inevitable by knowing those tiny pieces of plastic are always going to find your feet when you least expect.  Always.
