Did you know that the world’s first Christmas movie was a silent short made in 1898, titled ‘Santa Claus.’? National Today explains that the short film, “directed by George Albert Smith and at just over a minute long, was the first time that Santa Claus graced the screens. The film was about two children who are eagerly waiting for Santa Claus to make his appearance but are ordered to sleep. During the night, Santa slides down the chimney and leaves presents for the children.”

What is so amazing about holiday movies is that there is such a variety, there truly is a Christmas movie for everyone. From Elf, to Love Actually, to Die Hard, to Gremlins, there are so many options! I mean you could binge for hours! But that has me thinking… what is Minnesota’s favorite holiday movie?

National Today shares each state’s favorite Christmas movie and I couldn’t agree more with the Midwest!

Minnesota’s favorite Christmas movie is… Home Alone!

With Home Alone being such a Christmas classic, it makes sense, and Home Alone is also Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, Illinois, Nebraska, and Indiana’s favorite! Go Midwest!
