This Minnesota Workout Will Help You Burn a Ton of Calories
Need some help achieving your New Year's resolution of losing weight and getting into shape? This workout doesn't require special equipment or DVDs - Heck, you don't even have to go the gym.
All you need is a basic shovel. Shoveling snow has been proven to be a great cardio workout that uses muscles in your legs, arms, core and back. And there's plenty of snow out there so grab a shovel and start burning some calories. According to Harvard's Medical School the average person will burn approximately 223 calories for every 30 minutes they shovel.
If exercise isn't enough to motivate you maybe a fine will get you off the couch. The city of Rochester has a "24 Hour Law" which means you can get a ticket if you don't shovel your sidewalk within 24 hours of a snowfall. Read more about that here.
