Oronoco, MN (KROC-AM News) - It appears everyone involved in a scary incident on Lake Zumbro yesterday escaped serious injury.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says a rural Zumbro Falls woman who lives along the lake was attempting to rescue a dog that had fallen through thin ice when she ended up in the frigid water. A spokesman says 61-year-old Debra Jenkinson was in a kayak that took on water.

Two Rochester men ice fishing in the same area tried to come to her rescue using an ATV-like machine and also ended up in the water. A spokesman says all three were rescued after spending about 20-minutes in the cold water. 67-year-old Albert Smisek and 68-year-old Ronald Welke were unharmed, while Jenkinson was transported to St. Marys Hospital to be checked out.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of the 12000 block of Sunset Bay Road around 4:15 PM.
