Traffic Might Suck But New Popeyes Just Announced For Minnesota

Minnesota has a bit of an obsession with a chicken shop.  And no, I'm not talking about Chick-fil-A, although their waffle fries are pretty fantastic!  The restaurant that taste buds seem to crave is Popeyes Louisiana Chicken and it sounds like another one is opening up in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Yum!!!  Another Popeyes Is Opening in Minnesota

I know a few people who drive over an hour just to get a taste of Popeyes Louisiana Chicken in Minnesota.  It seems like a ton of gas to spend on a chicken sandwich but people freak out about the taste and are willing to fork over the cash for a bite in that chicken.  Thanks to its popularity, a few areas of Minnesota won't have to make that long drive because a new Popeyes was just approved.

According to CCX Media, a new 2,500-square-foot Popeyes Louisiana Chicken will be built near Becker Furniture World in Maple Gove.  This will be located in the Dunkirk Square and will have enough room for a dual drive-through that can stack 20 vehicles.

There were some concerns about the traffic flow in the area of the new restaurant as well as concerns of trash and maintenance.  The new plans for the new restaurant were approved in a recent meeting for the city.

Wasn't Rochester, Minnesota Supposed to Get a New Popeyes Louisiana Chicken Restaurant?

Back in June, I shared the news that paperwork was filed for a new Popeyes Louisiana Chicken restaurant in Rochester, Minnesota.  The original plan was for a 2265-square-foot building at 5585 NW Chateau Road.

The new restaurant would be built next to the Compcare building that is on Chateau and Villa Road NW.

According to the rochestermn.gov website, revisions of the plans for the new Popeyes in Rochester are being reviewed.  I read through a few of the documents and there were a few items highlighted that appear to be some of the revisions in review, including a discussion about a fire hydrant and who is responsible for rebuilding the pedestrian trail near the proposed location.

Will the New Popeyes in Rochester, Minnesota Be Built in 2023?

If you believe in miracles, yes.  However, that would have to be a mighty miracle to make a 2023 open happen.  The new McDonald's over by Century High School took almost a year to build so based on that alone, we are looking at 2024 as the year we have a bit more chicken in town.  That IS if approvals happen and of course, when construction actually starts.

Opening a new business in Rochester doesn't seem to be a very fast or easy process so really, this could even be 2025.  Who knows, maybe this project will surprise me.  Regardless of when it opens, I'll keep you updated on my Facebook page - Jessica On The Radio.  Give it a follow so you know what's happening around town.
