Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM NEWS) - A young man from Albert Lea was airlifted to Rochester for treatment at St. Mary’s Hospital after his pickup collided with a Union Pacific freight train Thursday afternoon.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Department says 20-year-old Owen Stuart was attempting to cross some tracks at an uncontrolled rail crossing on a rural road near an intersection with Highway 65 just south of Albert Lea when the crash occurred about 4:50 p.m. Stuart was trapped in the wreckage when emergency crews arrived at the scene, but he was conscious and speaking with the EMTs and firefighters as they worked to extricate him from his truck.
