Lake Elmo, MN (KROC-AM News) - Two people survived a plane crash yesterday on the eastern edge of the Twin Cities.

The Lake Elmo Fire Department says the Washington County Sheriff's Office was alerted to the incident around 3:15 Friday afternoon by a caller who reported a possible plane crash and fire in a cornfield. The plane had just taken off from the Lake Elmo Airport.

Firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the fire while also assisting the injured pilot and passenger. A new release indicated both occupants of the plane suffered non-life threatening injuries. Their names have not been released.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are expected to investigate the crash, which occurred only about 10 miles from the site of a plane crash 2 weeks ago that killed 2 people near Cottage Grove.
