Oronoco, MN (KROC AM News) - Slowly but surely, homes and businesses that lost power in SE Minnesota due to this week’s snowstorm are getting service restored.

In the Rochester area, People’s Energy Cooperative is reporting significant progress.

Director of Cooperative Relations Gwen Stevens reported Saturday morning that nearly 8800 members had lost power at the peak of the outages on Thursday. That number had fallen to around 600 as of 11:00 AM Saturday.

Stevens says most of the affected co-op members are located south of Highway 14. Townships hardest hit and still affected include Canisteo, Rock Dell, and Pleasant Valley due to numerous broken poles. She says some members have been without power since 9:30 pm Wednesday.

Stevens says 18 crews from other utilities are assisting in the restoration effort, including RPU.
