Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The National Weather Service has updated its forecast model involving a winter storm that is expected to hit southern Minnesota this weekend and it’s not good news for the Rochester area.

The agency now says the storm could dump several inches of snow across the region by Sunday evening. And there may be more problems. The agency says freezing rain could also cause travel and other problems due to possible ice accumulations of 1/4 to  1/2 of an inch. The icing could lead to numerous power outages due to downed trees and powerlines. It will also be very windy and temperatures are expected to remain well below normal the next few days.
