Minnesota’s Valleyfair Gears Up for Six Weeks of Halloween Tricks and Treats
In 2008, Valleyfair, located in Shakopee, Minnesota, transformed into ValleySCARE for the first time and quickly became one of the best destinations for Halloween fun in Minnesota and the entire upper Midwest. Guests could enjoy spooky mazes, eerie "scare zones," and a bunch of Halloween-themed entertainment, all while enjoying Valleyfair's thrill rides.
ValleySCARE was retired in 2021 and replaced with what the park described as an "over-the-top, larger-than-life, gotta-be-there Halloween event" in 2022. See what they have planned for this year below.
Why was ValleySCARE discontinued?
On its website, Valleyfair said its goal was to make the attraction more family-friendly.
"From little goblins to grown-up ghouls, everyone will find ghastly great things to do for Halloween. Plus, we’ve got skeleTONS of delicious seasonal treats, drinks, and, of course, candy!"
"Valleyfair's new 'Tricks and Treats' event was designed with younger families in mind, making it a perfect choice for my crew. Our kids are still too young for haunted houses or anything too frightening, so we're looking forward to checking this out.
Valleyfair's new Halloween set-up includes the Land of Tricks and the Land of Treats.
The Land of Tricks is divided into two distinct areas: Ickyville and Spooky Spires.
Spooky Spires is a 1920s village full of dark and mysterious characters.
Ickyville, on the other hand, will undoubtedly be the go-to spot for my kids, aged 7 and 9. According to Valleyfair, this corner of the park is full of all things "slimy, crawly, goopy, and stinky." It's also the place to go to catch a performance from The Snots, an all-zombie band.
Tricks and Treats: Halloween Fun at Valleyfair
The Land of Treats will also feature two unique festive areas: Everfall and Sweet Tooth Acres.
Costumes are encouraged for kids and trick-or-treating is the main event in Sweet Tooth Acres. Your family will be able to walk the treat trail collecting all sorts of goodies along the way.
Everfall will feature classic fall foods and treats and entertainment like campfire stories and acoustic music.
The park's most popular rides will be running throughout Valleyfair's "Tricks and Treats" event which will be open Saturdays and Sundays between September 23 and October 29.
