Rochester’s Newest Community Market Coming Soon
Coming up in just a few weeks, Rochester, MN is getting a new community market in town! I'm excited to check this out, it looks like there will be a diverse array of vendors from all different backgrounds.

The new market is called The Village Global Market. As the name suggests, the vendors there will be representing multiple countries from around the globe, and they're all local.

The market is being put on by The Village, which is an organization that gives anyone interested in growing crops, either for their family and/or to sell at markets, the opportunity to do so.
The people who are part of the program represent 25 countries from around the world!
Many of the people who are participating "are refugees of war, or come from countries currently experiencing war, drought, natural disasters, and extreme poverty". Everyone involved is looking to grow their own food for the sustainability and affordability.

The Village also never charges the farmers for their plots because "many come from low-income households and/or support several family members here and abroad."
They already do a Tuesday market at the History Center of Olmsted County, and now they're adding another to the list.

It sounds like many of the farmers who are part of The Village will be participating in The Village Global Market, as well as any other local vendor who is interested in participating.
They wrote on their Facebook event that they'll have "a rotating lineup of local vendors, artists, and growers offering fresh, seasonal produce and unique, culturally diverse goods."
The first Village Global Market will be on Sunday, July 20th. It will be every Sunday through October 12th from 2- 6 PM at MLK Park in Rochester.
It's a family-friendly event, so everyone is welcome!
I'm really excited to see all of the diverse options that will be available there, and to be able to support local vendors as well.
