Why All 12 Minnesota Sam’s Clubs Are Ditching Registers and Adding Dance Floors
Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart, opened the very first Sam’s Club in Midwest City, Oklahoma, back in 1983. His bulk warehouse chain quickly expanded to multiple locations, and there are currently around 600 Sam’s Clubs in the United States and Puerto Rico, including 12 in Minnesota.
In a company press release, Chris Nicholas, president and CEO of Sam's Club, said they’re aiming to be the best and have an aggressive plan to build 15 new clubs every year going forward.
It's unclear whether any of the new locations will be in Minnesota, but one thing is certain — big changes are on the way for all of the Minnesota locations.

Members of those stores, and Sam’s Clubs throughout the country, will notice some big updates soon. The company announced it will remodel each of its locations to match its Grapevine, Texas store.
Here’s What Minnesota Shoppers Can Expect at the New Sam’s Clubs:
Each will have a “dance floor.” The company’s site explains this is “an omnichannel showroom to reimagine the member shopping experience and give members a new way to interact with items.” Huh?

I looked into the Grapevine location and found there's no actual dancing happening on the "dance floor." That’s just the term they’re using for the space where the checkout registers are now.
Say goodbye to those registers, because the "dance floor" is moving in. This large area will feature online exclusives, along with “High-top tables near the showroom and entrance are staffed by member specialists ready to assist anyone new to Scan & Go.”
Shoppers will also be able to ship purchases directly to their homes from inside the store, which I love because that'll be a lot easier than strapping big things to the top of my Mazda.
Sam's is also leveling up on food with a pizza robot going into the dining area, a sushi island being added, and “home meal solutions.” The pharmacy, optical, and hearing centers are getting facelifts too.
