Why Isn’t this Already a Law in Minnesota?
Yesterday, I wrote a piece about the most annoying things Minnesota drivers do and how one Minnesota lawmaker wants to make it illegal. Later in the day, I got a call from a listener who said the thing that annoys him the most is is seeing people playing on their phones as they drive around. The caller said that should be illegal too. I was surprised that it isn't already.
That could change soon because Minnesota lawmakers have introduced a bill that would make it illegal for drivers to have a phone in their hand while driving. Rep. Mark Uglem, one of the co-authors of the bill, told Fox 9: “We are all addicted to these cell phones, and my bill does not outlaw cell phone talk or anything like that—you can still talk on the phone, but you just have to use it in a hands free manner.”
