Actors David Arquette and Alexa Swinton Filming New Movie in SE MN

A movie called 'Wreckless' is being filmed in SE Minnesota right now, and it's confirming celebrity sightings that have happened in Rochester recently.

A couple of weeks ago, people had claimed to have spotted David Arquette in town. Turns out, he's starring in this upcoming movie alongside Alexa Swinton.

David Arquette you likely know from the 'Scream' movies. Alexa Swinton's most recent work includes the movies 'Old' and 'Thunderbolts*'.

According to Deadline, Arquette plays Larry, "a recovering addict who has spent years trying to outrun his own mistakes" who is the father of Swinton's character, Joni, who is "a reckless teenager who has learned to live with pain".

The movie is "set within the male-dominated demolition derby community in rural Minnesota" and follows Joni and Larry as Joni enters a demo derby and both "are forced to confront the past and rebuild their relationship in the most unlikely of arenas."

Many movies, even if they're set in a place like Minnesota, will just make a set in LA or something like that and not even film in the actual setting. I love that the director chose to actually film here!

It appears at least Alexa was at the Olmsted County Fair based on some pictures she shared on her Instagram a few days ago. Some filming may have even happened there, I'm not sure. But in photo number 7 of the carousel she posted, you can tell the background is facing downtown Rochester from the fairgrounds.

I also got a message from a friend of mine who said she spotted David Arquette filming at the Goodhue County Fair's demo derby.

I'll be so curious to see the movie when it eventually comes out and see if we can spot specific Rochester or other southeast Minnesota locations.
