After months and months of touring, Adele abruptly cancelled her last remaining tour stops at Wembley Stadium on Friday, June 30.

On Instagram, the singer attributed the cancellation of her Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2 shows to “damaged vocal chords” and pushing herself too hard on tour.

“I had to push a lot harder than I normally do,” she wrote of her first two Wembley shows. “I felt like I constantly had to clear my throat, especially last night. I went to see my throat doctor this evening because my voice didn’t open up at all today and it turns out I have damaged my vocal chords… On medical advice I simply am unable to perform over the weekend.”

“I’m sorry for your disappointment,” she continued. “You know I would not make this decision lightly. I have done 121 shows and I have 2 left. 2 left!!! And they are gigantic shows! Who the f— cancels a show at Wembley Stadium!? To not complete this milestone in my career is something I’m struggling to get my head around and I wish that I wasn’t having to write this.”

The pop star concluded her message with a heartfelt apology and let fans know that more information regarding a potential reschedule and, if not, a refund would be available soon.

The cancellation comes just days after Adele announced that this tour could be her last.
