announced through Twitter Tuesday morning that they have come to a mutual agreement with Adrian Peterson to restructure the final three years of the Vikings running back's contract.

Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said in a statement:

"This agreement is a win for both Adrian and the Vikings and is a positive step toward Adrian finishing his career as a Minnesota Viking.  As we have consistently said, Adrian is a valuable part of the Vikings organization and we look forward to his return to the field.”

"I appreciate the Vikings for working together on this restructured contract, which provides additional security for me but also allows opportunities for me to further prove my value to the team and within the NFL," Peterson said. "It was important for me to continue my career in Minnesota, and I cannot wait to get on the field in front of Vikings fans again."

Peterson missed 15 games last season after basically being suspended after a child abuse incident involving one of his children in Texas. The whole incident created a rift between Peterson and the Vikings, with Peterson claiming on several occasions that he didn't feel he had the support of the organization. However, he rejoined the team during OTAs, at which point the two sides began working on the restructured contract.

Rumors are saying the deal includes $20M guaranteed at signing.

Now, with a capable young quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater, and a defense ready to crack the Top 10 in the league, what do you think Vikings fans? Does keeping AP in purple for the duration of his career increase Minnesota's chances of a run at a title?
