Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - An arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect in a shooting in Rochester in late July.

Rochester police say 22-year-old Liban Mohamed Ahmed is facing a second degree assault charge and a weapons violation for allegedly shooting another 22-year-old man in the leg in the early hours of July 29th. The shooting occurred near the Eastridge Estates apartment complex off Marion Road Southeast.

The victim told police he and his friends had just been involved in a fight at the nearby Kwik Trip store and investigators believe that altercation was linked to an earlier confrontation at a downtown Rochester bar.

Police are requesting the public’s help in locating Ahmed, and note he has ties to the Twin Cities area. Officials say he is considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information concerning Ahmed’s possible whereabouts, you are asked to call the police department’s non-emergency number (507-328-6800). If Ahmed is actually spotted, call 911 immediately.
