I LOVE avocados! I'll eat them plain with a little salt, on toast, mashed up as guac, on a salad, in a sandwich, it doesn't matter! And if avocados couldn't get any better, a researcher at Loma Linda University in Southern California is now looking to prove that this delicious green food could also aid weight loss.

This researcher, Dr. Joan Sabaté, who directs the Center for Nutrition, Lifestyle and Disease Prevention at LLU, still needs to do research, though, to prove this theory so he's looking for 250 people to eat avocados for 6 months and get paid for it.

Yes, you can get paid to eat avocados for 6 months! Sign me the heck up!

Dr. Sabaté tells KARE 11 that “'the study will examine whether eating one avocado per day reduces … fat in the abdomen.'” He believes that avocados could have "fat-fighting properties."

Just like any study, though, there are some requirements.

If you want to participate in this study you have to be 25 or older, be willing to eat 1 avocado per day for 6 months (if you're selected for the test group) OR 2 avocados per month for 6 months (if you're selected for the control group), and measure at least 40 inches around the waistline if you're a male, 35 inches if you're a female.

It doesn't say you have to live near campus to participate but I would think you do in order for them to properly study the effects.

There are 3 other universities participating in this study too, including Penn State University, Tufts University, and the University of California, Los Angeles. They will each be recruiting 250 participants.
