Speaker Series at Saint Mary's University - Cascade Meadow

The Zumbro River that European Farmers saw ins 1860 was very different from the river we see today. While no one planned to change the river, our well-meaning city-building and intensive farming practices have changed the Zumbro from a slow, winding prairie river with clear water and few floods into and eroded river that runs brown in some places and floods an average of once every seven years. While the challenges facing the Zumbro River are daunting, we've faced and overcome similar problems in the past. Discover how our grandparents solved river pollution and flooding problems in their day, and how we can take action for "Cleaner Water and Fewer Floods" today.
