PREVENTING GUN VIOLENCE is a "FORUM @ FIRST" panel discussion, featuring :
*Ms. Maggy Emery, Ex. Dir., PROTECT MN.
Ms. Emery is an energetic, delightful speaker who will address current legislation, causes of gun violence (including suicide by gun which encompasses at least 70% of all gun victims in MN), etc.
*Sheriff K. Torgerson, Olmsted Co. Sheriff Dept., will address what is happening at the regional area.
*School Support Staff, Rochester Public Schools. The RPS team will address what RPS does to prevent violence; what they do when they become aware of potential violence, SROs, addressing suicide by gun (& other), etc.
National, state and local legislators have been invited though both state and national legislators will probably be in session. Some local govt. officials will be attending. Total attendance can not be predicted but past FORUMS have had 25-150 attending. Given the topic, attendance expected to be high.
