RSOC welcomes U of M Jazz Ensemble and acclaimed trumpeter Charles Lazarus (just added) on March 28 for an extraordinary evening of cabaret Jazz at the Mayo Civic Center Auditorium.

ROCHESTER, MN - The Rochester Symphony Orchestra & Chorale (RSOC) will turn the Mayo Civic Center into a hopping big band jazz club on March 28. The orchestra will be joined by the University of Minnesota Jazz Ensemble directed by prolific author, composer and arranger Dean Sorenson, and Minnesota Orchestra trumpeter and composer Charles Lazarus. Music will include the classics of the 1920s, original works by Sorenson and Lazarus, and everything in between. Expect the hits of Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, George Gershwin and more.

Main floor tickets boast table seating with unlimited house wine and light cocktail fare. Concert-style seating is also available. Tickets range in price from $5 for students to $45 for the main floor and can be purchased at www.rochestersymphony.org.

CHARLES LAZARUS is known for his distinctive blend of lounge/exotica and funk fired jazz. The trumpeter/composer's eclectic career has been met with acclaim from critics worldwide. Lazarus made his main stage Carnegie Hall solo debut with the New York String  Orchestra at the age of 19 while still a student at The Juilliard School in New York. He has been a member of the Dallas Brass, Meridian Arts Ensemble, Canadian Brass, and currently the Minnesota Orchestra. He has been on the trumpet faculties of Princeton University and St. Olaf College, and has performed and taught master classes in every US state, Canada, South America and throughout Europe and Asia.
