While trying to remain humble, life's been good to me. I get paid to talk and play music, make decent money, have a great honey and a cheerful little 3 month old baby boy. All those things make me happy, so should that give a cop probable cause to search me? Apparently in Florida...

Steven McArther of Bradenton, Florida was witnessed by police walking down a sidewalk "appearing happy, with a bounce in his step, swinging his arms and singing." It's that kind of crazy behavior that got him stopped and questioned by officers, who also searched him. Steven was probably happy about the cocaine he was rockin' in his pocket until the cops found it.

Now, let me be very clear with something: I'm not sticking up for the ability to do or carry drugs, that's not the intentions of this story. At the same time, the Fourth Amendment of that wacky thing called THE CONSTITUTION protects us from being stopped, questioned or searched unless there's something called "probable cause". That means police need a valid reason for stopping or searching you. Their reason in this case? He "seemed happy".

"Yeah, bu they found drugs on him!"

Yep, and his case will probably get thrown out since police should have never stopped him to begin with. If that seems unfair to you, I guess you're ok with not smiling around authorities from now on, right?
