Is there a cougar in Olmsted County?

The DNR is checking reports of a possible cougar in an area north of Rochester, in the Hadley Creek Golf Learning Center. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says several calls were received over the weekend, including one late last night. Sergeant Tom Claymon says a man says he spotted what he describes as a “ 90 pound tan mountain lion “ near his shed.

The DNR is also trying to determine what attacked a 200 pound Great Dane on Saturday. The dog - whose owner lives in the area of the sightings - had to be euthanized. So far, there are no known photographs of the animal or signs that the sightings are those of a cougar.
