He served 17 total seasons over two stints with the team.

After winning 7 of their last 10 games into the All-Star Break, the Twins finally looked to have turned a corner.  Our young players were finally hitting, the starting pitchers were going deeper into games, and it looked like the team was finally believing in themselves and having some fun...

Well, reality quickly came crashing back to earth as our favorite ball club lost the series to Cleveland this weekend, only winning Saturday night due to a fluky play in extra innings.

As we all know, in sports you always need someone to blame when things aren't going well - and in this case, it was General Manager Terry Ryan:

The Twins are an American League worst 33-58 in 2016, and have been flirting with the overall worst record for most of the season after starting the year 0-9.

In a statement, Terry Ryan said he was "Grateful for opportunity, and disappointed he couldn't bring a third championship to Minnesota".

Assistant GM Rob Anthony will take over on an interim basis.  He's worked with the Twins for 29 seasons, including the past nine as AGM.

The MLB Network reported the Twins "are expected to consider candidates" to replace Ryan "in the coming weeks."
