The National Weather Service has welcome news for Minnesotans already weary of the winter cold. Forecasters say the mass of arctic air that has dominated the local weather scene for weeks is expected to be replaced by warmer Pacific air next week, and that should result in a very noticeable warming trend.

The National Weather Service long-range forecast, which is highly susceptible to change, indicates that high temperatures in southeastern Minnesota could be 20 to 25-degrees above normal by the middle of next week.

The normal high temperature for that period is in the upper 20s, which suggests highs around 50-degrees might be possible.
