Minnesota-based Gold’n Plump is recalling more than 27 tons of chicken after contaminants were detected.

55,608 pounds of chicken products may be contaminated with sand and black soil.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued the recall Saturday.

The chicken products, ranging from boneless chicken breasts to chicken livers, were produced from June 6 to June 9 and packaged in 40-pound cases for food service and retail distribution across the country, FSIS says.

The products bear “P-322” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

So far, no illnesses have been reported but the agency says people who bought the chicken are urged not to eat it.  The products should be thrown away or returned to where they were purchased for a refund.
