A Rochester man who was attacked early this morning was caught by surprise when he found out who the assailant was.

Police were called to the man’s residence in the 600 block of 27th Street northwest around 1:30 this morning. The man told police he had just returned from work and moments later spotted a person wearing a mask next to his garage.  The man says the person then attacked him with an aluminum baseball bat, hitting him several times on the arms and legs. The man was eventually able to get control of the person.

He then removed the mask and discovered the attacker was his ex-girlfriend.

Police later found the woman also had a knife but she told officers that she “ only wanted to rough him up a bit  “ and did not intend on using the knife in the attack.

The man says he broke up with the woman - identified as 34 year old Jenny Harris of Rochester - two years ago.
