The Number of State Troopers Struck at Crash Scenes is Alarming

The crash statistics below show the number of Minnesota State Patrol squad cars that were struck and the number of troopers that were injured after being hit on the side of the road.

When you see a State Trooper assisting a motorist on the side of the road please slow down and move over. Most of the incidents below could have been avoided by using safe common-sense driving techniques.

FYI, the majority of these crashes occur during the winter season.

MSP PATROL CARS STRUCK

• 2008 – 22 squads struck while parked; 10 Troopers injured
• 2009 – 28 squads struck while parked; 10 Troopers injured
• 2010 – 27 squads struck while parked; 5 Troopers injured
• 2011 – 26 squads struck while parked; 9 Troopers injured
• 2012 – 17 squads struck while parked; 4 Troopers injured
• 2013 – 19 squads struck while parked; 3 Troopers injured
• 2014 – 25 squads struck while parked; 4 Troopers injured
