Last week, we learned The Simpsons would be returning for a historic 29th and 30th seasons. But today, the longest running cartoon is in the news for something entirely different as they predicted a world in which Donald Trump would be President.

Sixteen years ago, in the episode called "Bart to the Future," Bart Simpson gets to see what his adult self is like. At one point, he goes to see his sister Lisa, who ends up becoming the first female President.

When he finally gets to his sister, he walks in on an important phone call about the country's financial situation. She says, "As you know, we've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump."

How bad is it? Well, in the episode, America is "broke." Watch at the 2:20 mark in the video below and see for yourself:

Recently, the show's writer Dan Greaney told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year about the episode that this point in the episode was "a warning to America." He said:

"What we needed was for Lisa to have problems that were beyond her fixing, that everything went as bad as it possibly could, and that's why we had Trump be president before her."

Eerily enough, this isn't the first time TV's favorite animated family has predicted the future. Of course, when you've been on TV for 28-going-on-30 years, you're bound to hit on a few crazy theories!

Here's another video to show what else they've predicted correctly:
